Welcome to Michigan Victim Advocacy Network. MiVAN is a project of the Division of Victim Services, a subdivision of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of Michigan Victim Advocacy Network’s Website.

By accessing and using this website, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement in full. No use of Michigan Victim Advocacy Network’s logo or other artwork will be allowed for linking absent a trademark license agreement.

We reserve the right at any time and in our sole discretion to request that you remove all links or any particular link to our website. Removal of links from our website
If you find any link on our website or any linked website objectionable for any reason, you may contact us about this. We will consider requests to remove links but will have no obligation to do so or to respond directly to you.

MiVAN strives to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information available. However, we cannot promise that Michigan.gov or any content, service, or feature of the website will be error-free or uninterrupted. Information is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
The information posted on the MiVAN website includes hypertext links or pointers to information created and maintained by other public and/or private organizations. MiVAN provides these links and pointers solely for your information and convenience. When you select a link to an outside website, you are subject to the privacy, copyright, security, and information quality policies of that website.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
Individuals under the age of 13 are not eligible to use services that require submission of personal information and should not submit any personal information to Michigan.gov. This includes submitting personal information to Michigan.gov as part of a user profile or personalization profile. If you are an individual under the age of 13, you may use these services only if used with your parent or legal guardian.
Registration
By registering for an account on MiVAN.org, you consent to:
- Abide by the terms and conditions as stated in this notice;
- Receive emails from MiVAN.org. You may unsubscribe to these emails by following the instructions contained in the email, or by contacting us directly.
- Having your information published privately in MiVAN’s members-only directory. Should you wish to remove yourself from the membership directory, you may opt-out using the feature found in your individual profile settings. The Information shared in the basic membership directory listing is: name, agency, agency county, agency role, and type of victimization served. Additional, optional categories include email address and work phone number.
- Authorize MiVAN to share your anonymized survey feedback (e.g. your thoughts and experiences taking MiVAN trainings) with stakeholders and in our marketing and promotions.
Termination
Termination of registration and deletion of all profile data can be accomplished through MiVAN’s Contact Form. A user may select the option to “Delete My Account” from the drop-down menu on the contact form and submit the form, at which point a representative from MiVAN.org will reach out to assist with the deletion and/or transference of any account information.
MiVAN reserves the right to terminate membership for any user violating any of the above stated terms of service, harassment, or other reasons.

Accessibility Statement and Policy for Michigan Victim’s Advocacy Network
MiVAN is committed to ensuring accessibility of its website and intranet to people with disabilities. Existing and updated web content produced by our organization will meet W3C WAI WCAG 2.1, Level AA, by October 2024.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Michigan Victim’s Advocacy Network is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA (see Known Limitations). Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Michigan Victim’s Advocacy Network, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Internal Documents: PDFs are not accessible to all users, so we provide as much information separate from PDFs as possible. We strive to provide Word document alternatives to all of our PDFs, but some older resources may not yet include alternatives. Please Contact Us for any assistance or if you need a Word document created.
External Resources: The websites, videos, and toolkits linked in our Resource Library are created outside of MiVAN and may not meet WCAG standards.
