Welcome to Michigan Victim Advocacy Network. MiVAN is a project of the Division of Victim Services, a subdivision of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of Michigan Victim Advocacy Network’s Website.

By accessing and using this website, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement in full. Do not continue to use Michigan Victim Advocacy Network’s website if you do not accept all of the terms and conditions stated on this page. Intellectual Property Rights and License
All content on MiVAN.org, unless otherwise stated, is the property of MiVAN.org or its content suppliers and is protected by intellectual property laws. All intellectual property rights are reserved. You may view and/or print pages from http://www.mivan.org for your own personal use subject to restrictions set in these terms and conditions.
You must not:
- Republish material from http://www.mivan.org without permission
- Sell, rent or sub-license material from http://www.mivan.org
- Reproduce, duplicate or copy restricted* material from http://www.mivan.org
- Redistribute restricted* material from Michigan Victim Advocacy Network to anyone who does not have written authorization from the Michigan Victim Advocacy Network to review such materials.
*Certain pages of our website, and the content held on within it, are subject to individualized authorization. Individuals can gain authorization to these pages via registration on MiVAN.org. Restricted materials in this instance refers to any/all information not accessible to a user without an authorized registration to MiVAN.org.
Hyperlinking to our Content
The following organizations may link to our Web site without prior written approval: Government agencies; Search engines; News organizations.
These organizations may link to our home page, to publications or to other Web site information so long as the link: (a) is not in any way misleading; (b) does not falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement or approval of the linking party and its products or services; and (c) fits within the context of the linking party’s site, and (d) does not require a valid user registration to access it.
We may consider and approve in our sole discretion other link requests from other organizations. We will approve link requests from these organizations if we determine that: (a) the link would not reflect unfavorably on us or our organization; (b)the organization does not have an unsatisfactory record with us; (c) the benefit to us from the visibility associated with the hyperlink outweighs the absence of Michigan Victim Advocacy Network; and (d) where the link is in the context of general resource information or is otherwise consistent with editorial content in a newsletter or similar product furthering the mission of the organization.

Approved organizations may hyperlink to our Web site as follows:

No use of Michigan Victim Advocacy Network’s logo or other artwork will be allowed for linking absent a trademark license agreement.

Reservation of Rights
We reserve the right at any time and in our sole discretion to request that you remove all links or any particular link to our Web site. You agree to immediately remove all links to our Web site upon such request. We also reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions and its linking policy at any time. By continuing to link to our Web site, you agree to be bound to and abide by these linking terms and conditions.
Removal of links from our website
If you find any link on our Web site or any linked web site objectionable for any reason, you may contact us about this. We will consider requests to remove links but will have no obligation to do so or to respond directly to you.
MiVAN strives to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information available. However, we cannot promise that Michigan.gov or any content, service, or feature of the website will be error-free or uninterrupted. Information is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
The information posted on the MiVAN website includes hypertext links or pointers to information created and maintained by other public and/or private organizations. MiVAN provides these links and pointers solely for your information and convenience. When you select a link to an outside website, you are subject to the privacy, copyright, security, and information quality policies of that website.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
Individuals under the age of 13 are not eligible to use services that require submission of personal information and should not submit any personal information to Michigan.gov. This includes submitting personal information to Michigan.gov as part of a user profile or personalization profile. If you are an individual under the age of 13, you may use these services only if used with your parent or legal guardian.
By registering for an account on MiVAN.org, you consent to:
- Abide by the terms and conditions as stated in this notice;
- Receive emails from MiVAN.org. You may unsubscribe to these emails by following the instructions contained in the email, or by contacting us directly.
- Having your information published privately in MiVAN’s members-only directory. Should you wish to remove yourself from the membership directory, you may opt-out using the feature found in your individual profile settings. The Information shared in the basic membership directory listing is: name, agency, agency county, agency role, and type of victimization served. Additional, optional categories include email address and work phone number.
Termination of registration and deletion of all profile data can be accomplished through MiVAN’s Contact Form. A user may select the option to “Delete Account” from the drop-down menu on the contact form and submit the form, at which point a representative from MiVAN.org will reach out to assist with the deletion and/or transference of any account information.
MiVAN reserves the right to terminate membership for any user violating any of the above stated terms of service, harassment, or other reasons.
