MiCAL crisis helpline in Oakland County and Upper Peninsula

“MDHHS announces launch of pilot MiCAL crisis helpline in Oakland County and Upper Peninsula, services to be expanded statewide in coming months. Michiganders in Oakland County and the Upper Peninsula will be able to call, text or chat with MiCAL for free behavioral health crisis triage, support, resource information and referral to local services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “This curriculum was created to support tribal programs in their efforts to provide advocacy and safety for survivors within their communities and make changes to end violence by embracing Indigenous culture. This curriculum provides comprehensive, basic information. The major use of this curriculum is for new advocates when other training is not immediately available, or cost prohibited.”

What Is Sexual Violence?

“Here we talk about sexual violence as defined by women. Though, sexual violence happens to men and children, the majority of victims of sexual violence are women. To undo violence against men and children, the first step is to undo violence against women. That’s why we talk about sexual violence against women from a woman’s perspective.”
