This webinar will focus on the lived realities of the AfroLatina diaspora and the resiliency in the face of violence and various issues facing communities. Yvette will share her experience and learnings from the field to support survivors of violence staring with centering the experiences of AfroLatinas in Latin America and their experiences as immigrants within the context of the U.S. This webinar will explore the importance of both ethnic and racial identity within the Latino community.

Human Trafficking Statistics – 2019

In 2019, Polaris worked on 11,500 situations of human trafficking reported to the Polaris-operated U.S. National Human Trafficking Hotline. These situations involved 22,326 individual survivors; nearly 4,384 traffickers and 1,912 suspicious businesses. Human trafficking is notoriously underreported. Shocking as these numbers are, they are likely only a fraction of the actual problem.

As a parent or educator, you can be a lifeguard for your children or students by understanding the warning signs and risk factors of suicide and letting the youth in your life know that support is always available if they need it.

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

On June 7, 2018, NCALL and the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP) hosted a 90-minute webinar in recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. This webinar featured a 50-minute international conversation between Bonnie Brandl (United States), Dr. Jane Mears (Australia), Bridget Penhale (United Kingdom), and Laura Tamblyn Watts (Canada), as well as a discussion of new work, resources, and funding opportunities.
