Legal Considerations when Providing Advocacy to Children and Youth

September 2019

Red Wind Consulting

“Federal and state laws and tribal codes all need to be considered and followed when working with children and youth. Advocates need to know what laws define their work, as well as what legal options are available for minors. For example, can LGBT youth in your area obtain Orders for Protection against a same-sex dating partner and at what age? Youth have less legal protections and legal recourse than adults. Considerations, such as: obtaining parental consent, mandatory reporting, confidentiality, school protections, Orders for Protection will be discussed during this webinar.”
